AARP Tax Help

This service runs on Fridays from February 7 through April 11 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.   Appointments can be either in-person, including in-person review of documents or same day drop-off and pick-up.  Schedule an appointment in-person or by calling the Information Desk at 215-885-5180, ext. 113. This service is for taxpayers with middle- and low-income, with special attention to those aged 60 and older.  

AARP Tax Help Prep

Please bring the following for your appointment:

  • Identification
  • Voided check for direct deposit or direct debit
  • Copy of last year's income tax return(s)
  • W-2 forms from each employer
  • Unemployment compensation statements
  • SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social Security benefits
  • All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, etc.) showing interest and/or dividends and documentation showing original purchase price of sold assets
  • 1099-misc. showing any miscellaneous income
  • 1099-R form if you received a pension or annuity
  • All forms indicating federal income tax paid
  • Dependent care provider information (name, employer ID, Social Security number)
  • All receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions
  • Social Security card(s) or copy of a SS card(s) of individual and for all dependents

Study Rooms

Charles E. Shorday Quiet Study Room

At the Abington Free Library, we have several places available for study, including the Shorday Room for Quiet Study and two small study rooms for group work. The study rooms have a large whiteboard, available for your use.  

Groups must reserve the small study rooms, as far out as one week in advance, either in person at the Information Desk or by calling 215-885-5180 x113. Walk-ins are possible, pending availability.
